Trimar Aquaria and Reptiles

In 1966, Tommy Bray started selling fish from his private house. He had a 6ft fish tank in the front garden with massive cold water fish to advertise his private business. Unfortunately, this was eventually closed down by the local Council as it was distracting drivers!

Undeterred by the setback, Tommy founded ‘TriMar’ at Tuckingmill, Cornwall - Named after his 2 daughters, Trina and Margaret. The early business catered for Ponds, Tropical and Coldwater fish. With the passing of Tommy the business was taken over by his daughter, Trina and her husband, Anthony.

The business flourished immediately, quickly moving to sell Marine fish and was amongst the first in the Country to do so.  After about 15 years the business was then sold to owner John Heath who kept it for 7 years before it was taken over in 1989 by Monty Ray.

Monty continued operating from Tuckingmill, eventually expanding into Reptiles in 2010 due to public demand (now with the largest collection of Reptiles in the South West). Moving to its current location in 2015, Trimar grew even more - developing more modern equipment and tank systems. Monty stayed until 2017 when he retired at the age of 71 - eventually passing the torch to Andrew Gill, the current owner.
